THE CHARACTER

Name: Dale Smith
Gender: Male
Age/Birthdate: 7th July, 2001
Sexuality: He's out and proud in the magical world

FAMILY HISTORY

Dale was born to Maggie & John Smith, travellers who still live on a site in Rutland. He was brought up like most travellers and only went to school for appearance's sake, spending most of his time learning his dad's trade. When he found out he was a Wizard, he thought it was some kind of joke and chucked the letter away. They kept sending the letters, however, and Dale finally realised that it wasn't some sort of fantasy.

His parents spread a story that he had run away, to explain the absences for most of the year. Dale arrived at school barely able to read & write, let alone cast magic. He was never the most brilliant in his year but magic came naturally to him and silent spells were his speciality. He was always friendly to others, had a wicked sense of humour, and had a lot of friends due to his kindness and ability to make fun of his shortcomings.

After school finished, Dale straddled the Muggle and Wizarding world. He still helped his dad when needed although with two younger brothers, he wasn't needed as much. He managed to get a job at the Ministry but didn't like it and quit, drifting from job to job ever since and mostly filling his life with friends.

At the last full moon, Dale was in Eastern Europe with his dad and brothers, dropping off some scrap metal. He was attacked and bitten by a wolf whilst changing a flat tyre magically (luckily his dad and brother shot into the darkness and scared the wolf off) and knew instantly that something was wrong. The last couple of weeks has seen him getting a job at Flourish & Blotts and trying to avoid going to St Mungo's for confirmation.

THE PERSONALITY

Dale has always had a wicked sense of humour and an ability to put people at ease. He likes to flatter people and make them feel good and this is probably why he has so many good friends, even if he is currently avoiding them.

He's never been very academically smart but Dale has a lot of common sense and knows how to make money. He's not above doing manual labour or something demeaning if he needs the cash and if anybody has a problem with it, he'll tell them exactly what he thinks of them.

Dale's a natural flirt and flirts with anything that moves. He realised he was gay a long time ago and whilst his family think he's straight, his friends in the magical world have no such illusions.

Recently he's been depressed and avoiding people, trying to come to terms with what he is and how to tell his friends and family.

SPECIAL ABILITIES / STRENGTHS / FLAWS

Dale is a werewolf. He was bitten at the last full moon whilst in Eastern Europe with his father and brothers. Everybody assumed it was just a wolf bite and said how lucky he was but Dale is more sceptical. He knows he needs to get the truth but he's scared.

FUTURE PLOTS

- As a recent werewolf he's going to be looking to meet others to understand what he's going through. His non-magical parents don't know and he's terrified of telling them.

- The recent rogue werewolf attacks have him scared and interested. He wants to know what's happening and why.
